Historic Achievement
Evelyn Chua holds the distinction of being the first woman of Filipino descent ever elected to serve on the Milpitas City Council. Her trailblazing spirit has broken barriers and paved the way for greater representation in local governance.

Service and Commitment
a) Planning Commission: Before joining the City Council, Chua served on the Milpitas Planning Commission for nearly four years. Her insights and dedication during this period contributed to thoughtful urban planning and community development.
b) Emergency Preparedness and Community Advisory Commissions: Chua’s commitment extended to serving on the Emergency Preparedness Commission and the Community Advisory Commission. Her involvement in these areas demonstrated her passion for community safety and well-being.
c) Citizens Task Force on Water Rates: In 2016, Chua chaired Milpitas’ Citizens Task Force on Water Rates, emphasizing responsible water management and affordability.
d) Safe Exchange Zone: In 2017, Chua spearheaded an initiative to establish a Safe Exchange Zone in the parking lot of the Milpitas Police Department. This area facilitates secure exchanges for online purchases and child custody arrangements.
e) Education and Progress: Chua’s reappointment as Vice Mayor reflects her unwavering commitment to building upon the city’s progress. She expressed her dedication to collaborative efforts with fellow council members and the community to address challenges and seize new opportunities for growth.
